Most guides to buying a power station start with watt-hours. Real people start with a number in their head: I have about four hundred thousand naira, what can I get?
So here is the range priced honestly, with what each tier genuinely does and where each one runs out.
Around ₦440,000 — the TURSAN YC 600S
600W output, 655Wh storage.
This is the entry point, and it is more useful than the price suggests — provided you are honest about what it is for.
It comfortably runs LED lights, standing and ceiling fans, a router, phone charging, a laptop and a 32-inch television. A typical evening set-up of six bulbs, two fans, the TV and the router draws around 255W, which this unit holds for roughly two hours.
Where it stops: a fridge. Not because 150W is too much to run, but because the compressor surge on startup is. If keeping a fridge cold is your reason for buying, this is not your unit.
Buy it if: you want the lights, fans, internet and screens to stay on through an evening outage.
Around ₦540,000 — the TURSAN YC 1100
1,000W output, 1,222.8Wh storage.

The extra hundred thousand buys nearly double the storage and, more importantly, close to double the output. That output headroom is what lets it absorb a fridge compressor kicking in.
This is the first unit in the range we would put behind a household fridge or a shop freezer, and for most Nigerian homes it is the sensible starting point rather than the 600S.
Where it stops: pressing irons, microwaves, water pumps, air conditioning.
Buy it if: a fridge or freezer is part of what you need to keep running. For the money, this is the best-value unit we sell.
Around ₦769,999 — the TURSAN YC 1200
1,200W output, 1,310Wh storage.
On paper the jump from the 1100 looks small, and in raw numbers it is. What you are buying here is a more capable unit overall rather than a dramatic capacity increase.
Be clear-eyed about this one: if your loads are the same as the 1100 would handle, the 1100 is the better buy. The 1200 makes sense when you want the additional margin and the platform, not because the extra 87Wh transforms anything.
Buy it if: you want more headroom than the 1100 and the price difference is not decisive for you.
Around ₦1,350,000 — the TURSAN YC 2400
2,400W output, 2,621Wh storage.

This is where the character of the machine changes. Double the output of the 1200 and double the storage, which puts genuinely heavy appliances within reach: a pressing iron, a microwave, a water pump, or a 1HP inverter air conditioner for around two and a half hours.
It is also the first unit that can carry a small business through a working day — a barber’s clippers and lights, a shop freezer plus POS, a small office.
Buy it if: you run a business on power, or you want occasional air conditioning.
Around ₦1,650,050 — the TURSAN JC-YT-5K
5,000W output, 5.22kWh storage.
Note the gap between this and the 2400 is smaller than the gap between the 1200 and the 2400 — roughly ₦160,000 for double the output and double the storage again. Measured per watt, this is the best value in the range.
It is a different kind of product, though: a wall-mounted all-in-one designed to be wired into your distribution board, with MPPT solar input built in. That means an electrician, which we cover in this guide.
Buy it if: you want whole-home backup, air conditioning, or a foundation to add solar to.
The honest advice on choosing
- Do not buy on price alone. Buy on the largest single surge you need to survive. A fridge decides more than a budget does.
- The 1100 is the value pick for most homes. It is the cheapest unit that handles refrigeration.
- The step from 2400 to 5K is the best-value jump in the range. If you are seriously considering the 2400, price the 5K before you decide.
- Buying too small costs more than buying too big. A unit that cannot start your fridge is not a cheaper solution — it is an expensive disappointment you replace within a year.
Rather than guessing, list the appliances you actually need and run them through our load calculator. It accounts for startup surge, which is the part that catches people out.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does about ₦440,000 buy?
The TURSAN YC 600S: 600W and 655Wh. It runs lights, fans, a router, a laptop and a TV through an evening outage, but not a fridge.
Which is the cheapest model that runs a fridge?
The YC 1100 (1,000W, 1,222.8Wh) is the first unit in the range we would put behind a household fridge or shop freezer.
Why can the YC 600S not run a fridge?
Not because of the fridge’s running power, but because the compressor surge on startup is too high for it.
